Watching the passing leaves succumb to gravity spurred me to bring some of the outdoors inside before “Stick Season” overwhelmed my last shreds of garden energy.
The result: A clump of birch that serves double duty as a display piece and a screen (for a distracting crack in my sheetrock). The branches “wore” glycerin leaves last month; now they’re hosting birds that forgot to migrate.
(Many thanks to Brad, Greg, and Francie, the stewards of Birch in Wiscasset for nurturing this idea.)
What do you do to bring bits of Maine indoors for the winter?
Love it!
