Calling all members to participate in this year's Plant Sale

Updated: Mar 2

This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we need all of your help, please. The proceeds go to our Scholarship Program and our Community Garden Projects. Last year we raised $5,724.

So please start thinking about what perennials, shrubs, and young trees you have that could be divided and potted up to sell. We will have at least 2 potting days at my house in late April - I have pots, soil, labels, etc. If you need help digging, please let me know and I'll make that happen.

Suggested perennials that sell well:   Alchemilla, Aster, Astilbe, Bleeding Heart, Campanula, Centaurea, Columbine, Coreopsis, Daylilies, Delphinium, Dianthus, Echinacea, Ferns, Herbs, Heuchera, Hosta, Iris, Jacob's Ladder, Jap. Primrose, Lobelia, Lupine, Monarda, Muscari, Nepeta, Penstemon, Peony, Phlox, Physostegia, Pulmonaria, Rudbeckia, Sedum, Solomon's Seal, shrubs- Forsythia, Lilac.

Last year we had 725 plants! As always, any plants that don't sell, we donate to other non-profit groups that have sales after ours. We will transport plants to the Wiscasset Town Hall front lawn on Friday, May 9, from 10 to noon, and we will set up tents, tables, etc, on Saturday, May 10, starting at 7 am. The sale is 8:30 to noon.

Canny Cahn and Sue Feeney are in charge of the always-popular Bake Sale this year. Please bring baked goods that Saturday morning - packaged and priced for sale.

We will have sign-up sheets at the March and April monthly meetings for the Plant Sale and for the Bake Sale.

Thank you all very much, and let us know if you have any questions.

~ Lisa Freeman and Debbie Lorenson, Co-Chairs of the Plant Sale
