Flowers & Food

Please join us on Thursday, August 1st from 4-7 pm on our big shady deck to Gather-in-our-Garden.

For Flowers:

We may be past our big daylily bloom, but we still have lots of color in phlox, snaps, crocosmia,

daisies, tall ageratum and lisianthus. This year we have been experimenting with ideas to make

gardening easier including: stand-up height raised beds for old tired bones, extra thick mulching

to reduce weeding and tweaking the shapes of my garden beds for easier mowing. Peter has

also continued to add biochar to the beds for long term soil health and moisture retention.

For Food:

We want to focus on sharing whatever we all have in our gardens. If we are lucky, I'll have some

dehydrated tomato chips. If not, we will certainly have spicy New Mexican green chile (Maine

grown) that some of you might like and a veggie caterpillar casserole with

squash/onions/tomato plus we’ll have ice tea, limeade and Peter’s rum daiquiris. 

For Sharing:

I have lots of daylilies, shastas, tall yellow iris, rudbeckia and crocosmia (both tall red Lucifer

and Pekoe a shorter yellow/orange), if you are interested. We will keep the weeds and

Japanese beetles unless you really want some…

For Fun:

I have 12 sets of whimsical cup-sculptures tucked in and around while Saint Francis holds

nature sacred.
